WK has a long history and supporting the development of great community-based facilities that make Marlborough a great place to live, with Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000 and the ASB Theatre being examples.

The latest community asset that WK is backing is a new mountain bike trail on Jentree, which will become known as the WK Wonder Trail.  WK are keen to support Mountain Biking in Marlborough as a number of their staff and clients love shredding the trails whenever they can.  WK are already major sponsors of Krankin Kids Marlborough, which is a Nelson-based organisation that provides mountain bike coaching for school kids.  WK Director, Neil Sinclair, is a Krankin Kids coach and was the driving force in getting Krankin Kids across the hill.

Jentree is a property in the Taylor Pass that is owned by Victoria and Justin Leov.  Justin recently retired after a 16 year professional Mountain Bike Down Hill Racer, including stints in the factory teams of the major international bike brands like Yeti, Trek and Canyon.  Justin had several international podium finishes, multiple top ten results and is a multiple-time national title holder.

Jentree was home to one of the first NZ downhill mountain bike races and is where Justin won his first title.  Justin and Victoria now have plans to redevelop Jentree as a mountain bike mecca.
Neil Sinclair said “when you talk to Justin and Torie about their plans for Jentree, you cannot help but share their passion for the project.  In the NZ mountain biking scene, Jentree is a significant property in the development of mountain biking, so it is a real honour for WK to be the naming rights sponsor for the new WK Wonder Trail.”

“Marlborough is already lucky to have the Marlborough Mountainbike Club building awesome new trails in the Wither Hills Mountainbike park.  Jentree is a different property that allows for completely different trails and will become a real asset to mountain biking in Marlborough” Neil said.

Justin said “we’re stoked and extremely grateful to have WK on board it’s fantastic to be working with a strong local business who share the same vision as us about putting back into the local community”
The WK sponsorship of Jentree covers a five year period and allows for ongoing track maintenance of the Wonder Trail.  There will also be the opportunity for WK staff and clients to benefit from Justin’s extensive experience through WK coaching clinics.

The WK team have already tested out the new WK Wonder Trail.  Neil says “The WK Wonder Trail is a wicked trail and a heap of fun to ride.  I can’t wait to see the huge smiles my fellow Marlborough Shredders will have once they get to the bottom of the run for the first time”.
