As a growth-focused company, director Hamish Morrow says he and his co-directors have been looking for new opportunities for the past few years.
“We wanted to spread our wings a bit further; we are conscious that what we do for our clients is very well regarded and we wanted to create further opportunities for our great team to deliver to more clients,” he says.
“We weren’t overly focused on one particular market, but as time went on we thought more about where would be a natural progression for us and we are confident Christchurch is the right fit for us.”
The expansion came at a time when Christchurch based chartered accountant and business advisor Aaron Cassidy, pictured above, was looking for a new challenge within his field.
He was particularly interested in pursuing his passion for business advisory.
“When I started my journey of change I knew that I wanted to be part of a modern accounting practice; there are too many traditional, compliance-focused companies out there,” he says.
“For me, it’s about ‘why do you do what you do’, and challenging clients about what their goals are; it’s looking at things from a holistic approach.”
Aaron was put in touch with the team at WK, and shortly after joined forces as lead director to establish a WK branch in Christchurch, based at 25 Mandeville Street Riccarton.
He will have the full support of the Marlborough Office in Blenheim to allow him to fully meet the needs of WK’s Christchurch clients.
“Ten years ago, to do this technology-wise would have been a lot more challenging, we’re now fully, cloud [based], fully Xero, and our I.T. infrastructure allows us to work from anywhere,” Hamish says.
The plan is to build the business to allow for more staff on the ground in Christchurch in the not too distant future.
